Whether you’re into surfing, zip lining, riverboat tours, hiking, white water rafting, rappelling down waterfalls, riding city bikes in vibrant Caribbean towns or witnessing sea turtle conservation efforts, Costa Rica’s tourist economy is fully equipped to deliver an incredible experience.
Starting out, we’re all giggling as we speed through the canyon. This is the COOLEST thing we’ve ever done... but then the sky starts to change color. “So… um, guys… how much longer is this river supposed to be?” We are dangerously close to sunset and looking back, our friends have turned into nothing more than silhouettes...
After our 16-hour day of hiking Cerro Chirripo up and down in one day, we knew the next day would be dedicated to one thing only: recovery. Imagine waking up and your body doesn’t work. All you can do is dream of the thermal baths down the road and the sensation of complete relaxation and weightlessness as you float in the 90 degree water.
With almost 3 weeks since our last border crossing, we forgot how tiring and time consuming these days can be, especially in the Central American heat. We didn't arrive until 10:30am which means we hit lunch time right as we were finishing our final steps. This made for a 3 hour crossing that should have taken less than 2. Start early, and hope for rain to cool things down ;)
